FAQ
What does the Etorus FE do?
The Etorus FE is an in-line fuel consumption and emissions reduction device. Inside the device, the patented technology consists of metals and rare earth elements through which fuel passes prior to combustion. A number of reactions occur simultaneously, resulting in a more complete burn of the fuel, which in turn creates more power using less fuel while reducing greenhouse gases and other harmful air emissions. The positive benefits of the Etorus FE include greater range per tank of fuel, greater power per load, increased horsepower, reduced fuel costs, reduced engine maintenance costs, extended engine life and reduced oil change frequency.
What causes black smoke and exhaust pollution?
The primary cause is unburned fuel being blown out of the exhaust. The Etorus FE provides for a more complete fuel burn, resulting in less unburned fuel and thus a reduction in black smoke and exhaust pollution.
How much black smoke and exhaust pollution will I reduce?
Up to 55%.
What effect does the Etorus FE have on emissions?
The device has been tested at EPA and CARB recognized labs and has been shown to significantly reduce harmful emissions of all types, including soot, particulates, and greenhouse gases.
How much fuel will I save?
The Etorus FE has been proven to reduce fuel consumption by up to 10% in well maintained engines that utilize a high grade of fuel, and up to 20% in less well maintained engines that utilize a lower grade of fuel.
How does the Etorus FE give an engine more power?
By conditioning the fuel to produce a more energetic mixture of fuel components, which enables the fuel to burn more completely and combust with more energy.
How does the Etorus FE protect my engine and prolong engine life?
In a typical engine, approximately 30% of the exhaust (fuel soot) from the combustion chamber is trapped in the engine's crankcase. This contaminates the oil in the engine, and is the main cause of oil breakdown. Oil analysis tests have proven that by using the Etorus FE, fuel soot levels are substantially reduced, thus keeping the oil cleaner, protecting the engine and prolonging engine life.
How does the Etorus FE keep my injectors cleaner?
The device breaks the fuel down into exceedingly fine mist by reducing its surface tension, which results in an improved fuel burn that works to clean the fuel line and injectors.
How long does it take for the Etorus FE to clean out my injectors?
Normally, approximately 200 hours (or 10,000 miles) of normal operation under load will significantly clean injectors; 300 hours of operation will then generally achieve the maximum clean-out benefit. After that, the device will continue to keep the injectors and fuel system constantly clean while the engine is running.
What is the Etorus FE made of?
The device is composed of a patented combination of rare earth elements and various "active" metals housed in a heavy gauge metal cylinder. Composition: Perovskites (based upon Titanates), Zeolites (Molecular sieves with very high surface area), Pillarded clays and other proprietary metal compunds. The Etorus FE DOES NOT CONTAIN Tin, Lead, Platinum, Palladium or Magnets.
How big is the Etorus FE?
The specific size employed depends on the engine. Sizes range from 10" to 16" in length and from 1.5" to 3" in diameter. Weights vary by size, with the typical device weighing roughly 3 pounds. The device comes with hydraulic fittings.
Where is the Etorus FE installed?
The device is installed on the last single fitting on the fuel line prior to the location where the fuel enters the engine block. On different engines, the installation will be in slightly different locations. We recommend the installation to be as close as possible to the point of combustion.
Why must the Etorus FE be as close as possible to the injectors?
Once fuel passes through the device, it is in a temporarily activated state, which allows it to be modified. Soon after exiting the device, this activated state is lost. Therefore, the device should be installed on the last single fitting on the fuel line prior to the location where the fuel enters the engine block.
Is the Etorus FE bi-directional?
Yes. When you install the device, you can connect the supply line at either side (flow direction does not matter).
How long does the Etorus FE take to install?
Installation is a very simple process for which Etorus provides extensive support. Installation times typically range from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on accessibility to the point of installation and the configuration of the required fittings.
Will installing the Etorus FE void my engine warranty?
No. Installation of the Etorus FE is non-intrusive and thus does NOT affect the OEM engine warranty. In fact, Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit Diesel and International have all issued letters verifying that the use of the device does not void their warranties. (US based OEM's)
Will the Etorus FE restrict fuel flow?
No.
How many gallons per hour flow through the Etorus FE device?
Up to 600 gallons of fuel per hour with the JIC10 fitting provided. Larger diameter units can accommodate larger flows.
How long will the Etorus FE last?
The Etorus FE is constructed of heavy-gauge metal and has no moving parts. There have been installations in the field that have been in operation for over 10 years. The device comes with a 2-year limited warranty, with an optional extended warranty available.
Does the Etorus FE need to be serviced?
No. The device has no moving parts, and once it is properly installed, there is no further maintenance required. A periodic inspection of the fuel line is recommended, along with a visual inspection of the device every 90 days to ensure that it remains securely mounted and is not rubbing or vibrating against any metal edges on the engine. In addition, the fittings should be periodically checked for tightness.
Can I take the Etorus FE off of one engine and use it on another engine?
Yes.
On what engine does the Etorus FE work best?
Noteworthy improvements occur on both newer, electronically injected engines as well as older, mechanically injected engines. The most significant improvements have occurred on older, less well maintained engines utilizing a lower grade of fuel.
Does the Etorus FE work with biodiesel?
Yes. The Etorus FE is very complementary to biodiesel, actually helping to mitigate or reverse some of its negative effects (including reduced fuel efficiency, reduced horsepower, and increased NOx emissions).
Is the Etorus FE a fuel additive?
No. Additives represent an ongoing expense for their users and require human intervention, which implies that they are both labor intensive and prone to human errors that could diminish their effectiveness and even damage the engine. Further, fuel additives have been proven to pollute ground water.
Does the Etorus FE contain or utilize magnets?
No. Magnetic devices typically lack long-lasting effects on fuel efficiency, have little or no effect on NOx emissions, and require periodic replacement and thus recurring costs.
Is the Etorus FE registered with C.A.R.B (the California Air Resources Board)?
Yes. The California Air Resources Board has issued an executive order permitting the device to be installed on all California vehicles (#D394-2).
How soon will I see results from the Etorus FE?
The device will start working as soon as it is installed, but will not show maximum benefits until the engine has operated for approximately 200 hours under load (or 10,000 miles). This is because the device-treated fuel needs time to run through the fuel system's injectors in order to clean out varnishes, gum deposits and built-up carbon that have accumulated in the cylinders over time from untreated fuel. On new engines the maximum benefits will be seen after 2000 hours or 100,000 miles.
e.g Say a normal engine loses 2% of efficiency every year, by the 5th year it is down to 90% of original efficiency. If you install the Etorus FE, it will climb back to say 94-95%. If you install Etorus FE on a new engine it will reach inefficiency of 94% after 5 years (never going down to 90%) That is why we say it will be difficult to see the contribution in the first 1-2 years (2000 hours) in a new engine because the Etorus FE is causing the engine to deteriorate much slower. So, essentially the Etorus FE is maintaining the maximum efficency for the engine for longer.
Can I paint or polish the Etorus FE?
No. The pores in the metal housing need to be left open to breathe, or the device will not work as effectively.
Can the Etorus FE be installed vertically instead of horizontally?
It is recommended to install the device horizontally whenever possible. However, some installations may require some degree of a vertical angle, which is permissible, as long as the device is slanted in a downward angle towards the injector port.
